Safety

Our operating standard

Safety is the condition on which every placement rests.

Safety sits ahead of speed and ahead of margin in the way we run placements. Where a worker is not appropriate for a site, or a site is not appropriate for the work as briefed, the placement does not proceed until it is.

How it runs

Safety, from vetting through to the final shift.

  • Pre-placement vetting

Tickets, inductions, licences, and right-to-work documentation are verified before a worker is confirmed to a site. Every worker carries a minimum of two years' verified experience in their trade or role, and competencies are matched to the specific requirements of the contract rather than assessed against a generic checklist.

  • Site-specific inductions and briefings

Each worker is briefed on the conditions of the site they are attending: identified hazards, exclusion zones, live services, traffic management, and the host contractor's own procedures. Where a project runs its own induction, it is completed before the first shift.

  • Ongoing monitoring and incident reporting

Placements are supervised for the duration of the engagement. Near-misses and incidents are reported and reviewed in line with WorkSafe Victoria requirements, and findings inform how subsequent crews are vetted, briefed, and placed.

  • Fit-for-work standards

Workers are expected to attend site rested, appropriately equipped, and clear on the day's tasks. Drug and alcohol testing, medical clearance, and fatigue management are applied consistently where a placement or contract requires them.

  • Regulatory compliance

Relay Labour operates in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004 (Vic) and WorkSafe Victoria requirements. Safe Work Method Statements, Job Safety Analyses, and supporting documentation are prepared to the standard specified by the contract.
